STANDARD CITY TOUR

THE WHOLE TOUR is combined, by coach and by walk and usually lasts 3 – 3.5 hours. The most important objects which characterize Belgrade are assumed in this tour:

  • SAINT SAVA TEMPLE
  • BY COACH, PANORAMIC  – FROM TEMPLE THROUGH TERAZIE TO KALEMRGDAN PARK
  • BY WALK – KALEMEGDAN PARK & BELGRADE FORTRESS
  • BY WALK – CATHEDRAL, PRINCESS LJUBICA PALACE, RESTAURANT “?”, PRINCE MICHAEL STEET
  • BY COACH, PANORAMIC – THE REPUBLIC SQUARE, PARLIAMENT, PRINCE MILOŠ STREET, MUSEUM OF YUGOSLAVIA, TITO’S MAUSOLEUM, WHITE ROYAL PALACE, TWO SPORTS STADIUMS, END OF TOURAT THE START POINT.

SAINT SAVA TEMPLE – One of the biggest orthodox temples, appointed to saint Sava, the first Serbian archbishop, is still in construction, interior decoration is still in work process. Even the architectural project is from XX century, the appearance is reminiscent of Saint Sophia in Istanbul from the VI century. The crypt, partly occupied by church fully decorated with al secco paintings and in main upper church all the wall will be covered with mosaic.

PANORAMIC TOUR BY COACH – 1st PART

Passing from saint Sava temple through Slavia Square with round singing fountain in the middle, after through main streets King Milan and Terazije, near to Royal Palaces and striking hotel Moscow in Art Nouveau style. After while, passing through The Republic Square, lucking on National Theatre and monument of Prince Michael background of which is National Museum. The next point is Student Square named by several faculties around, from there start pedestrian part of the tour.

WALKING PART OF TOUR

BELGRADE FORTRESS as oldest part of the city, together with park Kalemegdan in front, sourly will give many stories from the history.

BUILDING COMPLEX around of Orthodox Cathedral, as French and Austrian Embassies, Patriarchy, in oriental Balkan style two of oldest Belgrade buildings, palace of princess Ljubica and restaurant “?”. The oldest part of the first modern street from XVIII century, today all pedestrian, will be shown below in the tour.

PANORAMIC TOUR BY COACH – 2nd PART

Is longer then first one, during which will be seen the most representative parts of Belgrade, will continue right after pedestrian one. The most important points in this part of the tour are:

NATIONAL THEATRE erected on initiative of prince Michael Obrenović in 1869; NATIONAL MUSEUM, the oldest but also the richest with exhibits in Serbia.

PARLIAMENT building from 1936, with sculptures of artist Tome Rosandić “Igrali se konji vrani” (Black horses at play) in front of main entrance.

OLD ROYAL PALACE from 1882 built as private residency of king Milan Obrenović, today is City Hall.

NEW ROYAL PALACE finished in 1922 as palace of king Aleksander I Karadjordjević. Today is working place of President of Republic of Serbia.

PRINCE MILOŠ STREET with remarkable buildings of the Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and also remains of two buildings of the ministry of the Army, destroyed in bombing of Belgrade and Serbia in 1999.

MUSEUM OF YUGOSLAVIA and Flower House – Tito’s Mausoleum and Memorial.

ROYAL COMPOUND located on DEDINJE hill, most prestige living area in Belgrade, with WHITE  ROYAL palace commissioned by Alexander I, the king of Yugoslavia, in 1936 finished, nowadays belongs to Republic of Serbia, but in use by prince Alexander Karadjordjevic, son of the last Yugoslavian king.
